Jacob Turner tosses shutout vs Buffalo

Tigers prospect Jacob Turner made his third start for the AAA Toledo Mud Hens as he took on the Buffalo Bisons. The 20 year old tossed six shutout innings, while surrendering just four hits, walking one, and striking out six in a no-decision. Turner, who was rated the 7th best prospect overall according to MLB.com, was 3-5 with a 3.48 ERA, going 113.2 innings, while striking out 90 in 17 starts for AA Erie. He also made one start for the Tigers when he pitched 5.1 innings against the Angels on July 30.


Gary Brown has five hit game

Giants top prospect Gary Brown went 5-for-5 including a pair of homers and four runs driven in to help give San Jose an 11-5 victory over Stockton. Brown is certainly putting up top prospect numbers this season. He has a .331/.400/.507 line, with 30 doubles, 12 triples, 12 home runs, 74 RBI’s, and 47 stolen bases which are good for second most in the California League.

Trevor Bauer’s outing vs Jackson

Dbacks prospect and 2011 third overall pick Trevor Bauer made his third start tonight for AA Mobile. The 20 year old pitched five innings, giving up four hits, one run, walking a batter, and fanning seven in a no-decision against the Jackson Generals. Since being with the Snakes organization, Bauer now has a 2.83 ERA, and has struckout 40 batters in 24 innings combined with High A Visalia and Mobile.

Drew Hutchison makes AA debut

Noah Syndergaard wasn’t the only Jays pitching prospect to make his debut with a new affiliate, as Drew Hutchison made his for AA New Hampshire. He threw five scoreless frames, giving up just two hits, walking a pair, and punching out seven for his first AA victory in a 16-3 route of Trenton. Hutchison was 11-5 with a 2.68 ERA, while pitching 134.1 innings, and striking out 150 in 24 starts before being promoted to New Hampshire. Coming into this season, he was rated Toronto’s 10th best prospect according to MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo.

Noah Syndergaard makes debut for Lansing

Blue Jays pitching prospect Noah Snydergaard made his debut tonight for the Low A affiliate Lansing Lugnuts. He pitched five innings, giving up four hits, one run, a walk, and six strikeouts in a no-decision against Bowling Green. Before being promoted to Lansing, Syndergaard was 5-2 with a 1.70 ERA, while striking out 65 in 55 innings of work between Rookie League Bluefield and Short A ball Vancouver.

Jarred Cosart’s outing vs Midland

Astros top pitching prospect Jarred Cosart went six innings tonight, allowing four hits, one run, walking three, and striking out a pair in a no-decision against Midland. The 21 year old has now made five starts for AA Corpus Christi since being acquired in the Hunter Pence deal at the July 31 trade deadline.
